We arrived Wednesday early in the morning in Bali and once exited the airplane, I felt so relaxed just because of the fresh air. I always feel so relaxed when I’m in Bali, perhaps it is such a difference when comparing with Jakarta (aka smog-city). The day we arrived in Bali, we checked in at our hotel Harris @ Kuta and then we headed to the priest who would bless us during the holy matrimony. After meeting the priest, we went to Ubud to have lunch @ Naughty Nuri’s Warung. This warung is very famous for its spare-ribs. The taste was indeed good, but there was too many fat.
Day 2 in Bali, we visited our wedding location @ Tirtha Luhur to rehearse for the wedding. Everything went well and again, the place was asthonishing! Especially with a blue sky the place felt like heaven… :) After practising, we wanted to go for lunch an ended at a place where we actually had to fish for our lunch. It was pretty funny and my dad caught two nice fishes of each 0,8 Kg. They cooked / bbq’ed the fishes really good, it was really tasty! yummieee…

When you are in search for a nice (DSLR) camera, it can be handy to have prices from other countries to compare… Most of the times it can be a big saver to buy a camera or accessories overseas when you’re going on a holiday / business trip. This is especially the case when you are living in Europe, where prices are definitely more expensive than in USA or Asia. The only thing what is unknown to me, is whether the quality of the same camera can be different in Europe than in Asia. So for example the manufacturer uses less quality parts for a camera when it’s distributed to Asia than to Europe. I have heard this rumour a couple of times, but haven’t found any information which can confirm it…
USA:
- www.amazon.com (I must say the prices of the states are the lowest I’ve seen so far)
Indonesia: Overall, Indonesia have quite competitive prices when comparing camera prices from The Netherlands for example. But here in Jakarta you have to pay attention on the guarantee, whether you only get guarantee at the store or also from the distributor. Guarantee from the distributor is a bit more expensive…
- TokoCamZone –> quite competitive prices and have most of the stuff in stock. Their store is not the most professional one when you see it though…
- JPC Kemang –> located in the famous, rich Kemang area in Jakarta. Pretty crowded everytime I come there.
In case you have websites from stores from different countries and which also include their latest prices. Please let me know and I will add them to this list. Hopefully it can be of any use for future (DSLR) camera owners.
Ciao

Having certain objects in color and the rest in black and white is one of my favourite effects. See the result of my flowergirls!

I recently made a very tough decision on which DSLR camera to take, a Nikon D80 or the newly released Canon EOS 40D. After weeks of reading reviews and comments on the internet and talking to several people, I finally decided to go for the Canon 40D. Why?

Some say the Canon 40D should be actually compared to the new Nikon D300 (or the ‘old’ D200) instead of the Nikon D80, which, I assume, 40D is better than the Nikon D80… This is actually confirmed by considering the way Canon and Nikon position their line of DSLR camera’s… the Canon 350D / 400D vs. Nikon D40 / D80, and Canon 30D/40D vs. Nikon D200/D300
The price difference between these two camera’s is little; the Nikon D80 is 630 euro and the Canon 40D is 770 euro… (in Indonesia).
The grip of the Canon felt better than the Nikon
My sis-in-law already uses Canon which makes it easier for me to borrow things… :)
That’s actually about it why I chose for Canon…. the first 2 points really made the difference. I wanted to buy a body which I could use for a long period and not changing it everytime when they release a new one. Also, the difference in price was very little…
Now I am a happy owner of the Canon 40D (body only ;)) and still trying to figure out every feature. Again, I’m still a rookie in photography, but I would like to take this hobby to a more serious level and eventually shoot some nice photos with the manual function. Hopefully in the near future I can participate in a photography course in order to improve my skills…
